Marvel Comics’ 10 bravest villains, ranked

Many Marvel villains are known for their bravery. Some of these dangerous and intimidating villains can be pretty cowardly, but not all of them. It takes certain means to do what a lot of villains do, challenging some of the most skilled and powerful heroes. No matter how many times they lose, they keep going, fighting their enemies and trying to win.

No matter what is thrown at them, some bad guys will keep fighting. No matter how powerful their enemies are, they will always attack. Just because they’re mean doesn’t mean they’re not brave.

ten Thanos never heard of the word fear

Thanos Infinite Titan

Thanos is a special case when it comes to brave villains. For starters, it is quite easy for him to be brave, as there are few who can defeat him. What makes him brave is that he will actively seek out the beings who can defeat him and try to beat them. For example, to get the Infinity Gems, Thanos had to defeat the Elders of the Universe, powerful cosmic beings.

Thanos doesn’t just attack those weaker than himself; he fights everyone, no matter who they are. Thanos will throw himself into situations where he should almost certainly die, but will always come out the winner.

9 Doctor Doom will stop at nothing

Doctor Doom Darkhold

Doctor Doom has long been one of the bravest villains on the planet. There’s something about someone going up against a being like the Beyonder, surviving long enough to drain their omnipotent power, like Doom did in the first one. Secret wars. Doom fought Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet, defeated Galactus and turned him into a battery for Latveria, and literally became God; nothing disturbs him.

Doom is too arrogant to be afraid. His bravery comes from his unwavering belief that he is the greatest and that everything should bow to him. In Doom’s mind, he is an epic conqueror and he will stop at nothing to prove it to the rest of existence.

8 Baron Zemo constantly tests himself against Earth’s Mightiest Heroes

Baron Zemo holds a sword and stands near a cannon as a soldier is gunned down next to him. His arms are outstretched and he is wearing his purple mask.

Baron Zemo is arguably one of the most dangerous people on Earth due to his sharp tactical mind. Baron Zemo has done terrible things for years, defying himself against the Avengers and Captain America, constantly trying to prove he’s bigger than them. The fact that Zemo is aiming so high proves just how brave he is.

Zemo doesn’t do half measures; he’s a headhunter and he wants to beat the best. While he can isolate himself with groups like the Masters of Evil, he has no problem stepping into the fray and battling the toughest heroes out there.

7 Bullseye’s madness isolates him from fear

Bullseye Dark Avengers The Hand Thunderbolts

Bullseye is one of the most dangerous mercenaries around; all he touches is a weapon and the man loves his job. Bullseye works for the highest bidder, but he would kill completely for free if it boiled down. He loves to go into battle with the toughest heroes he can because fighting is what he lives for. His bravery comes from a simple place: he is completely mad.

Much like his nemesis Daredevil, nothing scares Bullseye. All that matters to him is being able to use his skills again and he will do anything for that. As long as there is a target, Bullseye will try to hit it.

6 Kang the Conqueror never met an enemy he was afraid of

Kang the Conqueror has been fighting for a long time. Before even taking on the Avengers, he was the type to pounce on an army of enemies with only the weapon systems of his armor and skills. All that matters to him is winning and he will stop at nothing to prove that he is a brutal conqueror.

It has only gotten worse since he started fighting the Avengers; Kang wants to prove that he can defeat the greatest heroes in history. For a while he had a device in his armor that allowed him to transfer consciousness to a clone body, but he removed it because it made him weak. Kang knows nothing but bravery.

5 Carnage’s death wish trumps all the rest

Carnage is one of the deadliest villains Spider-Man has ever faced. It’s not just because of his symbiote, although that is certainly part of it. The main reason is that the only thing that gives him pleasure is killing, and that’s where his twisted bravery comes from. Carnage wants to kill more than anything; this desire drives him.

Carnage is brave because that’s how he manages to kill. He knows that every time he engages in one of his killings, he will meet resistance. It doesn’t matter to him. The odds may be completely stacked against him and he would not stop.

4 Green Goblin looked death in the face and laughed

goblin spiderman

To truly understand Green Goblin’s bravery, you have to look at his time as the leader of the Dark Avengers. In order to keep his power base safe, he manipulated the Sentry into obeying his orders, knowing at any time that the Void could arise and destroy it all with a thought. On top of that, he led an invasion of Asgard.

Mystique Artgerm

She has been a huge success in the world of covert ops because her powers and skills are matched only by her bravery. To do what Mystique does, and be so good at it, you need an iron core that knows no fear.

It is Mystical in a nutshell. Nothing discourages her. She will continue, no matter how bad the odds are or how much her enemies have outperformed her. Mystique’s bravery is matched only by her style and panache.

2 Sabretooth never backs down

Sabretooth has been fighting for a long time; most of his life has been a battle for him. While his healing factor, super senses, razor sharp claws and teeth, superhuman strength and agility have made things easier for him in some ways, it’s his reckless bravery that makes him so dangerous. There is nothing more dangerous than a person who knows they cannot be hurt.

Sabretooth delights in torturing his enemies and violence is his life. He is a man who does not know how to retreat. He loves what he does and while he might not be the best, nothing is stopping him.

1 Toad’s bravery is quite unlikely but it is there

X-Force TPB Toad

Toad has been a member of almost every incarnation of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. His powers are the ability to jump very high and have a prehensile tongue, but he’s constantly trying to prove himself against the X-Men. Toad spent years getting mistreated by Magneto and other villains, but he never gave up or stopped fighting.

The toad is much braver than it looks. Anyone with their powers who was ready to face what they did and endure what they did has more bravery than they appear. Toad will never get the credit he deserves, but that doesn’t mean it’s not due.
